Welcome at this website where you will find infomation about myself and my work.

I am an applied sciences professor for Ethics & Technology at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. In 2012 I defended my PhD thesis in philosophy of technology at the University of Twente, where also studied mechanical Engineering and Philosophy. In 2005-2006 I studied Philosophy in Paris for a year. My research is about the impact an ethics of technology. I developed the Product Impact Tool. My colleages and I apply this and other tools in our approach of an ethical parallel track for innovations; for education as well as for responsible innovation and ethical professionalisation in organsations. Important domains of aplication are sustainability, digitalisation, and health.

From 2021 to 2023 I was chair of the board of the Dutch Association of Philosophy and Healthcare (‘VFG’). I am part of the team of the ‘Foucault Circle NL/BE’, member of the ethics group of the Centre for Information security and privacy (‘CIP’), and member of the team of ‘Science Café Enschede’. I partake in the network for circularity ‘Cirkelregio de Achterhoek’. And I am engaged with the renewable energy initiative in the community of Oude IJsselstreek ‘Doe gewoon Watt’.

I live with my wife and two sons in the city of Enschede, the Netherlands.
